A German artillery officer during World War I, Dornberger was captured and spent two years in a French prisoner-of-war camp. After his release, he studied engineering, and, beginning in 1932, directed construction of the V-2 rocket, the forerunner of all post-war spacecraft. United Tribes International Powwow (2018)

The United Tribes International Powwow takes place every year over four days in early September at United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, North Dakota. The event typically draws 20,000 to see more than 1,500 drummers and dancers representing about 70 Native American tribes. Contests are held for all age groups in singing, dancing, and drumming. Other festival events include a parade, a softball tournament, arts and crafts, and a national Miss Indians pageant for contestants between the ages of 17 and 26.
