The Color Wheel

A color wheel is an arrangement of hues around the circumference of a circle in the order in which they appear in the electromagnetic spectrum, with complementary colors placed opposite one another. A typical artists' color wheel includes the primary colors blue, red, and yellow; secondary colors—green, orange, and violet—created by combining two primary colors; and tertiary colors, which combine the primary colors with adjacent secondary colors. US Secretary of State George Marshall Announces the Marshall Plan (1947)

World War II left the finances and industry of Europe crippled. In 1947, Marshall proposed a plan for the US to finance the European recovery. From 1948 to 1952, it provided almost $13 billion in grants and loans to 17 countries and was a key factor in reviving their economies and stabilizing their political structures. Nirjala Ekadashi (2017)

Of the 24 Ekadashi or 11th-day fasts observed during the course of the Hindu year, Nirjala Ekadashi is one of the more important. Panchamrata is prepared by mixing together milk, ghee (clarified butter), curds, honey and sugar. It is then offered to the image of Vishnu, which has been draped in rich clothing and jewels, with a fan placed beside it. Hindus meditate on Vishnu as the Lord of the Universe and worship the deity with flowers, lamps, water, and incense. More...

Children of Divorce Suffer Academically

It appears that children of divorced parents lag behind their peers in math and social skills and are more likely to have anxiety, stress, and low self-esteem. Researchers had expected the intense marital conflict couples experience before divorcing to have a negative impact on children in the household but were surprised to find that such effects only began appearing once formal divorce proceedings had begun. Though the negative effects do not worsen following divorce, they do persist, and the researchers found no sign that children of divorce ever catch up with their classmates. More...
